Technical checks do not guarantee official acceptance. Always review the current photo-content instructions.

The useful settings are already filled in.

RulePix aims for the clearest JPG below 50 KB and keeps the output close to the ceiling. Exact pixel dimensions remain off initially so the image keeps its shape unless reduction is necessary.

RulePix performs the resize and compression inside your browser. The original image is never sent to HandyTrove, and the downloaded copy has no watermark.

01

Application headshots

Use a plain background and a sharp original to preserve useful facial detail at a small size.

02

Photo ID portals

Copy any width and height rule from the destination portal instead of assuming file size is the only check.

03

School and job forms

Confirm the required format; JPG is widely accepted, while some portals reject PNG or WebP.

01Choose an image

Use a clear original whenever possible.

02Review the loaded rule

Change the format or dimensions only if your portal says so.

03Fit and inspect

Check the downloaded pixels, KB, crop, and visible content.

Does the preset make the image exactly 50 KB?

It targets a practical 48–50 KB window. The finished byte size varies slightly with image content and browser encoding.

Can I enter exact dimensions too?

Yes. Turn on exact pixel dimensions and enter the required width and height. RulePix centre-crops to fill that frame without stretching the image.

Does HandyTrove store the photo?

No. The browser decodes, resizes, compresses, and downloads the image locally. HandyTrove never receives the file.
