The preset targets an 18–20 KB window. Upload portals normally enforce a maximum or range, and exact byte counts are neither stable nor visually useful.
Twenty kilobytes is a very small budget. Large dimensions and detailed backgrounds require stronger compression. Use the smallest permitted dimensions and a clean source image.
Yes, the preset starts with exact dimensions turned off. If the original cannot fit below 20 KB, RulePix gradually reduces its dimensions rather than stretching it.
