The useful settings are already filled in.

A 100 KB budget preserves more facial detail and fine edges than tiny 20 KB or 50 KB limits. RulePix searches for the clearest result under the ceiling, then keeps it near 100 KB when the image format permits.

RulePix performs the resize and compression inside your browser. The original image is never sent to HandyTrove, and the downloaded copy has no watermark.

Job application photos

Start with the sharpest original you have; repeated compression cannot restore lost detail.

If the form also specifies width and height, enter those dimensions before running the preset.

Supporting images

Check the downloaded JPG at normal size and confirm that faces, text, and document edges remain clear.

Will the image be exactly 100 KB?

The preset targets 95–100 KB because upload forms usually enforce a maximum. The exact byte count depends on the picture's colours, detail, and dimensions.

Does the preset change the image dimensions?

It first tries to preserve the original dimensions. If the image cannot fit below 100 KB at a useful quality, RulePix gradually reduces its width and height without stretching it.

Is the image uploaded anywhere?

No. The image is decoded, resized, compressed, and downloaded inside your browser. HandyTrove does not receive the file.
